First Vietnamese American Bank has adopted the following principles:

Recognition of a Customer’s Expectation of Privacy
First Vietnamese American Bank recognizes and respects the privacy expectations of our customers. First Vietnamese American Bank has established policies and procedures to prevent misuse of our nonpublic personal information, which in this disclosure we call “confidential information,” about our current and former customers.

Use, Collection and Retention of Customer Information
First Vietnamese American Bank collects, retains and uses confidential information about individual customers only where it is allowed by law and we reasonably believe it is useful in administering our business and in providing products, services and other opportunities to our customers.

What Information We Collect

We collect:
  • Confidential information customers provide us on applications and other forms
  • Confidential information about customers’ transactions with the bank, its affiliates and others
  • Confidential information we receive from a consumer reporting agency

What Information We Disclose, and to Whom
First Vietnamese American Bank does not disclose any confidential information about our customers to anyone, except as permitted by law. For example:
  • We disclose confidential information to third parties that we retain to assist us in furnishing our products and services to our customers, such as to help complete a customers-initiated transaction or to help administer our bona fide business. Whenever we provide confidential information to a third party, we insist that the third party adhere to privacy principles at least as strict as ours, to keep that information confidential.
  • We may disclose confidential information at a customer’s request or to comply with a legal requirement (e.g., to respond to a subpoena or to comply with a governmental reporting requirement).
  • We report to consumer reporting agencies about our experiences with our customers.
However, we do not sell confidential information, nor do we have any plans to change our policy on selling such information. If we were to later decide to market confidential information, each affected customer would be notified and presented with the opportunity to “opt our’ before his or her personal data will be released.

Maintenance of Accurate Information
First Vietnamese American Bank has established procedures to ensure that all confidential information is accurate, current and complete in accordance with reasonable commercial standards. We will respond in a timely manner to customer requests to correct inaccurate information.

Confidentiality and Security
First Vietnamese American Bank restricts access to confidential information to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to our customers. We maintain physical, electronic and procedural safeguards that comply with federal standards to guard all confidential information.

Special Information Applicable to Electronic (Internet) Banking
First Vietnamese American Bank’s "Privacy Principles" will apply to customers’ confidential and private information with regard to both traditional and non-traditional (i.e., Internet) banking activities. However, due to the unique nature of the Internet and the ease with which information can be exchanged, First Vietnamese American Bank feel it is important for customers to be aware of the unique issues surrounding Internet Banking.

To better serve legitimate Internet Banking customers:
First Vietnamese American Bank collects generic information about visitors to our website to our website through the use of “cookies” place on the visitor’s computer hard-drive. These cookies tie certain information we may track, such as the date and time of access, the activities in which the visitor engages while on our website, the Internet service provider’s address, the web browser used and other information.

In addition, commercial customers should carefully screen those employees to whom user IDs and passwords are granted.

First Vietnamese American Bank utilizes encryption, firewall, router, third party verification procedures and other sophisticated security software and hardware to help prevent unauthorized eavesdropping of and access to customers’ confidential and private information. However, no one can guarantee that all of these measures will prevent unauthorized access to our processing system and the data therein.

First Vietnamese American Bank utilizes up-to-date computer virus protection software to help prevent the spread of computer viruses. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to prevent computer viruses from being spread to those who access our website.

First Vietnamese American Bank utilizes “cookies” to help authenticate our customers’ identities and to help facilitate the exchange of information between First Vietnamese American Bank systems and our customer’s systems.
